Description

A comforting and aromatic chai latte made easily at home with black tea, spices, and frothy milk.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 black tea bag or 1 tbsp loose black tea
  • 1 cup whole milk (or any milk of choice)
  • 12 tbsp honey or sugar, to taste
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 23 whole cloves
  • 23 green cardamom pods, lightly crushed
  • 1 small piece fresh ginger, sliced
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small pot, bring the water, cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom, ginger, and black pepper to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes to let the spices infuse.
  3. Add the tea bag or loose tea and steep for 3-5 minutes, depending on desired strength.
  4. Meanwhile, heat the milk in a separate saucepan or froth using a frother until hot and foamy.
  5. Strain the spiced tea into a mug, add sweetener to taste, then pour in the hot milk.
  6. Stir gently and enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • Adjust spices to your taste or use chai spice blend for convenience.
  • For a vegan version, use almond, oat, or soy milk and sweeten with maple syrup.
  • Top with extra cinnamon or nutmeg for garnish.
