Description

Delightful bite‑sized crescent rolls shaped like little Easter bunnies, filled with cheese and ham—or go vegetarian with cream cheese & chives—perfect for a festive appetizer.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 (8‑oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough sheet (8 triangles)
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened (or 8 slices of deli ham and cheese)
  • 2 tbsp fresh chives, finely chopped (or thinly sliced ham)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Sesame seeds or black sesame/peppercorn bits, for eyes

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll crescent dough and press seams together to form a rectangle; cut into 8 equal triangles.
  3. If using cream cheese filling, mix with chives in a small bowl. Otherwise, place a slice of ham and cheese on each triangle.
  4. Place about 1 tbsp filling near the wide base of each triangle.
  5. Roll each triangle from the base toward the tip, curving slightly to form bunny ears at the ends.
  6. Place bites on the prepared baking sheet, point side down.
  7. Brush with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  8. Gently press sesame seeds or black sesame/peppercorn bits at the narrow end as bunny eyes.
  9. Bake for 12–15 minutes, until golden and puffed.
  10. Let cool 5 minutes, then serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For a sweeter twist, spread a thin layer of Nutella or fruit jam instead of savory fillings.
  • Bunnies are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
  • Use poppy seeds or mini chocolate chips for eyes if serving a sweet version.
  • To prep ahead, shape bites and refrigerate, then brush and bake just before serving.
