Description

This Dorito Taco Salad is a fun and flavorful twist on classic taco salad! Crunchy nacho cheese Doritos are tossed with seasoned ground beef, crisp lettuce, juicy tomatoes, and shredded cheese, then topped with a zesty Catalina dressing. It’s quick to make, super satisfying, and perfect for potlucks, weeknight dinners, or summer cookouts.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or 2 tbsp homemade taco seasoning)

  • 1/4 cup water

  • 1 head iceberg lettuce, chopped

  • 2 cups cherry tomatoes, halved

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans or black beans, drained and rinsed

  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives (optional)

  • 1/2 red onion, diced (optional)

  • 3 cups Nacho Cheese Doritos, slightly crushed

  • 1 cup Catalina dressing (or French dressing)

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned.

  2. Drain excess grease, then add taco seasoning and water. Stir and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  3. In a large salad bowl, combine chopped lettuce, tomatoes, shredded cheese, beans, olives, and onion.

  4. Add the slightly cooled taco meat to the salad.

  5. Just before serving, toss in the crushed Doritos and drizzle with Catalina dressing.

  6. Gently toss everything together and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Only mix in the Doritos and dressing right before serving to keep the chips crunchy.

  • Feel free to add avocado, sour cream, or jalapeños for extra flavor.

  • You can use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef if you prefer.
