Description

These rich, gooey bars are made with layers of chocolate, coconut, nuts, and a buttery graham cracker crust—all held together with sweetened condensed milk.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (or walnuts)
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup butterscotch chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the Crust:
    • In a bowl, mix the graham cracker crumbs and melted butter until evenly combined. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan to create the crust.
  3. Layer the Ingredients:
    • Sprinkle the coconut evenly over the crust. Follow with layers of chocolate chips, butterscotch chips (if using), and chopped nuts.
  4. Add Sweetened Condensed Milk:
    • Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the top, ensuring it covers all the layers.
  5. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set.
  6. Cool and Slice:
    • Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan. Once cool, slice into squares or bars and serve.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, toast the coconut or nuts before layering.
  • Swap semi-sweet chocolate chips for dark or milk chocolate, depending on your preference.
  • These bars can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
