For the Cake:

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour (or oat flour for a gluten-free option)
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda (optional, for slight rise, but safe in small amounts)
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce (or mashed banana)
  • 1/4 cup natural peanut butter (NO xylitol—check the label!)
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt (or unsweetened pumpkin puree)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp honey (optional, for a little sweetness)

For the Frosting:

  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt (or unsweetened peanut butter for a thicker frosting)
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter (for extra flavor)
  • 1 tsp honey (optional)

For Topping (Optional):

  • Dog treats
  • Shredded carrots
  • Blueberries

  3. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, stirring until combined.

Step 3: Bake the Cake

  1. Pour batter into the prepared cake pan.
  2. Bake for 20-25 minutes (or 12-15 minutes for pupcakes), until a toothpick comes out clean.
  3. Let cool completely before frosting.

Step 4: Make the Frosting

  1. Mix Greek yogurt, peanut butter, and honey in a bowl until smooth.
  2. Spread over the cooled cake and decorate with dog treats, shredded carrots, or blueberries.

Step 5: Serve & Celebrate! 🎉

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Notes

  • Xylitol-Free: Always use natural peanut butter with NO xylitol (toxic for dogs!).
  • No Dairy? Swap yogurt for mashed sweet potatoes or pumpkin puree.
  • Storage: Freeze slices for up to 1 month for a fun frozen treat.
