  • 1 cup marinara or pizza sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 8 oz pepperoni slices (or other favorite toppings)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil and grated Parmesan for garnish (optional)
  • Red pepper flakes (optional, for spice)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tater Tot Crust:

    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a large cast iron skillet or a 10-inch springform pan.
    • Arrange the thawed tater tots in a single layer in the skillet, making sure there are no gaps. Press them down gently with a spatula or spoon to create a solid crust.
  2. Bake the Crust:

    • Bake the tater tot crust for 15 minutes, until they are partially cooked and beginning to crisp up. Remove from the oven and press down again to ensure the crust holds together.
  3. Add the Toppings:

    • Spread marinara or pizza sauce evenly over the tater tot crust. Sprinkle with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
    • Layer half of the mozzarella cheese, followed by pepperoni slices, and any additional toppings. Add the remaining cheese on top.
  4. Bake the Pizza:

    • Increase the oven temperature to 425°F (220°C) and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the crust is golden and crispy.
  5. Garnish and Serve:

    • Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Garnish with fresh basil and grated Parmesan, if desired. Slice into wedges and serve warm.
