Description

This Deep Hamburger Sausage & Pepperoni Pie is a deliciously satisfying main dish, combining juicy ground beef, Italian sausage, pepperoni, and layers of gooey mozzarella cheese in a flaky, deep-dish pie crust. It’s a meat lover’s dream and is perfect for cozy family meals or game-day gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 refrigerated deep-dish pie crust (or homemade, 9 inches)
  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb Italian sausage (mild or spicy, casings removed)
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni slices
  • 1/2 cup onion, diced
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup pizza sauce (plus more for serving)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the pie crust in a 9-inch deep-dish pie pan, pressing it firmly into the edges. Set aside.
  2. Cook the meats:
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage until fully browned, about 5-7 minutes. Break up the meat as it cooks, and drain any excess grease.
  3. Sauté the vegetables:
Add the diced onion and bell pepper to the skillet with the cooked meat. Sauté for another 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are soft. Season with garlic powder, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat.
  4. Assemble the pie:
Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce on the bottom of the pie crust. Layer half of the meat mixture over the sauce, followed by half of the mozzarella and cheddar cheeses. Add a layer of pepperoni slices, then repeat with the remaining meat mixture and cheeses.
  5. Top and bake:
Place the pie on a baking sheet (to catch any drips) and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden on top.
  6. Cool and serve:
Allow the pie to cool for about 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with extra pizza sauce on the side, if desired.

Notes

  • Customize with other toppings like mushrooms, black olives, or jalapeños for added flavor.
  • Use a blend of Italian cheeses for a richer flavor profile.
  • For a crispier crust, brush the edges with olive oil before baking.
