Description
Dandelion Hot Chocolate is a rich, earthy twist on the classic cozy drink. Using roasted dandelion root instead of coffee or cocoa alone, this recipe offers a naturally caffeine-free and detox-friendly beverage with deep, roasted flavor and a chocolaty finish. Perfect for sipping on chilly mornings or winding down at night.
Ingredients
-
1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
-
1 tsp roasted dandelion root (loose or in a tea bag)
-
1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

-
Pinch of cinnamon (optional)
-
Pinch of sea salt (optional)
Instructions
-
In a small saucepan, warm the milk over medium heat until hot but not boiling.

Add roasted dandelion root. Let steep for 5–10 minutes (longer for stronger flavor), stirring occasionally.
-
Strain out the dandelion root or remove the tea bag.
-
Whisk in the cocoa powder, sweetener, vanilla, and any optional spices.
-
Heat gently for another 1–2 minutes, whisking until smooth and steamy.
-
Pour into a mug and enjoy!
Notes
-
You can roast your own dandelion root at home by washing, chopping, and roasting at 350°F for 10–15 minutes until dark brown and fragrant.
-
Add a splash of coconut milk for extra creaminess.
-
Great as a coffee alternative or evening treat.
