Description

This Crunchy & Sweet Apple Salad is a refreshing mix of crisp apples, crunchy nuts, and sweet dried fruits, all tossed in a creamy dressing. It’s perfect as a side dish, a light lunch, or a holiday addition to your table.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 3 medium apples (a mix of sweet and tart varieties, such as Honeycrisp and Granny Smith), cored and diced
  • 1/2 cup (50 g) chopped walnuts or pecans (toasted for extra flavor)
  • 1/2 cup (75 g) dried cranberries or raisins
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) celery, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup (30 g) shredded carrots (optional, for extra crunch)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) plain Greek yogurt or mayonnaise (or a mix of both)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice (to prevent browning and add a bright flavor)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional, for warmth)

Instructions

  • Prepare the dressing:
    • In a small bowl, whisk together the Greek yogurt (or mayonnaise), honey, lemon juice, and cinnamon (if using) until smooth. Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • Combine the salad ingredients:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the diced apples, nuts, dried cranberries, celery, and shredded carrots (if using).
  • Toss the salad:
    • Pour the dressing over the apple mixture and gently toss until everything is evenly coated.
  • Chill and serve:
    • Refrigerate the salad for at least 15-30 minutes to let the flavors meld. Serve chilled and enjoy!

Notes

  • Add-ins: Try adding shredded coconut, sunflower seeds, or chopped fresh herbs like parsley for extra flavor and texture.
  • Variations: Replace dried cranberries with fresh pomegranate seeds or diced fresh pineapple for a tangy twist.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. The lemon juice will help prevent the apples from browning.
