This Creamy Mushroom Delight is a luxurious, flavorful dish featuring tender mushrooms in a velvety, garlic-infused cream sauce. Serve it over pasta, rice, or as a side dish—it’s a perfect comfort food that’s quick and easy to make!

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 lb (450 g) mushrooms, sliced (button, cremini, or a mix)
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme (or 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves)
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine (or chicken/vegetable broth)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

1. Sauté the Aromatics:

  1. Heat the butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the diced onion and sauté until softened, about 3 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

2. Cook the Mushrooms:

  1. Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet.
  2. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 7-8 minutes, until the mushrooms release their moisture and begin to brown.

3. Add Seasonings and Deglaze:

  1. Stir in the thyme, smoked paprika (if using), salt, and pepper.
  2. Pour in the white wine (or broth) to deglaze the pan, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom.
  3. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes until the liquid reduces slightly.

4. Make It Creamy:

  1. Lower the heat to medium-low and pour in the heavy cream. Stir well to combine.
  2. Simmer gently for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.

5. Add Parmesan and Serve:

  1. Stir in the Parmesan cheese until melted and incorporated.
  2. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  3. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
