Description

These Cream Cheese Squares are a quick and easy dessert featuring a buttery crescent roll crust, a rich cream cheese filling, and a sweet cinnamon-sugar topping. They’re perfect for potlucks, family gatherings, or as a delightful after-dinner treat.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 cans (8 ounces each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 16 ounces (2 packages) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Baking Dish:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. Layer the Crescent Roll Dough:
    • Unroll one can of crescent roll dough and press it into the bottom of the prepared baking dish, pinching the seams together to form an even crust.
  3. Make the Cream Cheese Filling:
    • In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, 1 cup of sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
    • Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the crescent roll crust.
  4. Add the Top Layer:
    • Unroll the second can of crescent roll dough and lay it over the cream cheese layer. Gently press the edges to seal, but don’t worry if it’s not perfect.
  5. Add the Topping:
    • Pour the melted butter evenly over the top layer of crescent dough.
    • In a small bowl, mix the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar with the ground cinnamon. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the melted butter.
  6. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
  7. Cool and Serve:
    • Remove the dish from the oven and allow it to cool to room temperature.
    • For best results, refrigerate for at least 1 hour before cutting into squares. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Variations: Add a layer of fruit preserves (such as strawberry or raspberry) on top of the cream cheese filling for a fruity twist.
  • Serving Tip: Dust with powdered sugar before serving for an extra touch of sweetness.
