Description

This Cream Cheese Frosting is rich, smooth, and easy to make with just a few ingredients. It’s the perfect topping for cakes, cupcakes, and cookies, adding a hint of tang to balance the sweetness.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 12 tbsp milk or heavy cream (optional, for consistency)

Instructions

  • Beat Cream Cheese and Butter: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together on medium speed until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add Vanilla and Sugar: Add vanilla extract, then gradually add powdered sugar, one cup at a time. Beat on low until incorporated, then increase to medium-high speed and beat until smooth and fluffy.
  • Adjust Consistency: If the frosting is too thick, add 1-2 tablespoons of milk or heavy cream, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency.
  • Use and Store: Spread or pipe the frosting onto your favorite baked goods. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Notes

  • For a firmer frosting: Chill the frosting in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes before using if it feels too soft.
  • Flavor Variations: Add a dash of lemon juice or almond extract for extra flavor.
