Scale
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1–2 tbsp milk or heavy cream (optional, for consistency)
Instructions
- Beat Cream Cheese and Butter: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together on medium speed until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add Vanilla and Sugar: Add vanilla extract, then gradually add powdered sugar, one cup at a time. Beat on low until incorporated, then increase to medium-high speed and beat until smooth and fluffy.
- Adjust Consistency: If the frosting is too thick, add 1-2 tablespoons of milk or heavy cream, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency.
- Use and Store: Spread or pipe the frosting onto your favorite baked goods. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
Notes
- For a firmer frosting: Chill the frosting in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes before using if it feels too soft.
- Flavor Variations: Add a dash of lemon juice or almond extract for extra flavor.
