Description

A flaky and creamy Cream Cheese Danish pastry that’s perfect for breakfast or a sweet snack. Made with puff pastry and a rich cream cheese filling, it’s simple yet indulgent.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 12 tsp milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Unfold puff pastry and cut into 4 squares. Slightly score a border around each square, being careful not to cut all the way through.
  4. Spoon the cream cheese mixture into the center of each square.
  5. Brush edges with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  6. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.
  7. Mix powdered sugar and milk to make a glaze. Drizzle over cooled danishes.

Notes

  • Ensure puff pastry is thawed but still cold for best results.
  • Customize with fruit preserves or fresh berries on top of the cream cheese filling.
  • Best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days.
