- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar

- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1. Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and cream cheese together until smooth and fluffy.
- Add sugar and mix until well combined.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
2. Chill the Dough:
- Cover the dough and refrigerate for 30-60 minutes to make it easier to handle.
3. Shape & Bake:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them 2 inches apart on the baking sheet.
- Flatten slightly with your fingers or the bottom of a glass.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are just set (cookies should remain soft).
4. Cool & Decorate:
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Dust with powdered sugar or dip in melted chocolate if desired.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add ½ teaspoon almond extract.
- Want a crisper cookie? Bake for 12-14 minutes instead.
- Storage: Keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
