Description

These Cream Cheese Cookies are ultra-soft, slightly chewy, and have a delicate buttery flavor. Made with cream cheese and vanilla, they’re a perfect balance of sweet and tangy. Enjoy them plain, dusted with powdered sugar, or dipped in chocolate!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
Optional Toppings:

  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Sprinkles or sanding sugar
  • Melted chocolate (for dipping)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

1. Prepare the Dough:
  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and cream cheese together until smooth and fluffy.
  2. Add sugar and mix until well combined.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
2. Chill the Dough:
  1. Cover the dough and refrigerate for 30-60 minutes to make it easier to handle.
3. Shape & Bake:
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them 2 inches apart on the baking sheet.
  3. Flatten slightly with your fingers or the bottom of a glass.
  4. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are just set (cookies should remain soft).
4. Cool & Decorate:

  1. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  2. Dust with powdered sugar or dip in melted chocolate if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add ½ teaspoon almond extract.
  • Want a crisper cookie? Bake for 12-14 minutes instead.
  • Storage: Keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
