Description

Cream Cheese Banana Bread is a moist, rich twist on classic banana bread, featuring a luscious cream cheese layer baked right inside for a decadent treat.

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for cream cheese filling)
  • 1 large egg (for cream cheese filling)
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (for cream cheese filling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together 1 1/2 cups flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, mix mashed bananas, 1/2 cup sugar, brown sugar, melted butter, 2 eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. In another bowl, beat cream cheese, 1/4 cup sugar, 1 egg, and 2 tablespoons flour until smooth to make the cream cheese filling.
  6. Pour half of the banana batter into the prepared loaf pan. Spoon the cream cheese filling evenly over the batter.
  7. Top with the remaining banana batter and gently spread it to cover the filling.
  8. Bake for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor and sweetness.
  • Cover loosely with foil if the bread is browning too quickly.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator due to the cream cheese filling.
