- 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed if frozen
- 120 g (4 oz) brie cheese, cut into small cubes
- 1/2 cup cranberry sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Fresh rosemary or thyme sprigs, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
1. Prepare the puff pastry
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and lightly grease a mini muffin tin or line it with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to smooth out creases.
- Cut the pastry into 12 squares (about 5×5 cm or 2×2 inches).
- Press each square gently into the cups of the mini muffin tin.
2. Assemble the bites
- Place a cube of brie in the center of each puff pastry square.
- Top with 1 teaspoon of cranberry sauce.
- Sprinkle with chopped pecans or walnuts for added crunch, if desired.
3. Bake
- Brush the edges of the puff pastry with the beaten egg to enhance browning.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15–20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and puffed.
4. Garnish and serve
- Remove the bites from the oven and let them cool slightly.
- Garnish with a small sprig of fresh rosemary or thyme for a festive touch.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Cranberry sauce alternative: Substitute with fig jam, apricot preserves, or red pepper jelly for a twist.
- Make-ahead: Assemble the bites up to 4 hours in advance and refrigerate until ready to bake.
- Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge and reheat in the oven for a crisp texture.
