- 4 cups apples, peeled and sliced
- 2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 cup old-fashioned oats
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9 inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, cranberries, granulated sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix well and pour into the prepared dish.
- In another bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, salt, and melted butter until crumbly.
- Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the fruit mixture.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the topping is golden and the fruit is bubbling.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
- Use a mix of sweet and tart apples like Honeycrisp and Granny Smith for depth of flavor.
- Frozen cranberries can be used without thawing.
- Add chopped nuts to the topping for extra crunch.
