Instructions
-
Prepare the oven and pan:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
-
Make the batter:
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, until just combined.
-
Prepare the apple layer:
- In a small bowl, toss the diced apples with sugar and cinnamon.
-
Prepare the cinnamon-sugar swirl:
- In another small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon for the swirl.
-
Assemble the bread:
- Pour half the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it evenly.
- Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar swirl mixture over the batter, followed by half of the apple mixture.
- Add the remaining batter on top, then sprinkle with the remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture and apple mixture. Gently press the apples into the batter.
-
Bake the bread:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
-
Make the glaze:
- In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bread.
-
Serve:
- Slice and enjoy this delicious apple fritter bread with coffee or tea!
