Coquito is a rich and creamy coconut-based drink that’s a holiday tradition in Puerto Rico. Flavored with warm spices, coconut, and a hint of rum, it’s a festive treat perfect for parties and gatherings.

- 1 (12 oz) can evaporated milk
- 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 (13.5 oz) can coconut milk
- 1 (13.5 oz) can cream of coconut (e.g., Coco López)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 to 1 cup white rum (adjust to taste)
- Cinnamon sticks (for garnish)
Instructions
- Blend the Ingredients:
- In a blender, combine evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, coconut milk, cream of coconut, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg. Blend until smooth and well combined.
- Add the Rum:
- Stir in the rum, starting with 1/2 cup and adjusting to taste. Blend again briefly to incorporate.
- Chill the Coquito:
- Pour the mixture into a glass bottle or jar. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to chill and allow the flavors to meld.
- Serve:
- Shake the bottle before serving. Pour the Coquito into small glasses and garnish with a cinnamon stick or a sprinkle of cinnamon if desired.
Notes
- For a non-alcoholic version, simply omit the rum.
- Adjust the sweetness by using less sweetened condensed milk, or balance it with an extra splash of coconut milk.
- Coquito can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Shake well before serving.
