Cookie Monster Cookies are playful, oversized cookies packed with chocolate chips, chunks, and candy-coated chocolates. Inspired by everyone’s favorite cookie-loving monster, they’re a perfect treat for kids and adults alike, making snack time extra fun!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200 g) brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups (345 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 cup mini candy-coated chocolates (like M&Ms)
  • Blue food coloring gel (optional, for a Cookie Monster-themed look)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Dough

  1. In a large bowl, cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).
  2. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Gradually add the flour, baking soda, and salt, mixing until just combined.

2. Add the Mix-Ins

  1. Stir in the chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, and candy-coated chocolates until evenly distributed.
  2. If making blue cookies, add a few drops of blue food coloring gel to the dough and mix until the color is uniform.

3. Chill the Dough

  1. Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 24 hours for more flavor).

4. Bake the Cookies

  1. Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Using a cookie scoop or your hands, roll the dough into large balls (about 2 tablespoons each) and place them on the baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches of space between each cookie.
  3. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden but the centers are still soft.
  4. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

5. Decorate (Optional)

  • For a true Cookie Monster vibe, press candy eyeballs onto the cookies while they’re still warm and slightly soft.

Notes

  • Storage: Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
  • Freezing: Freeze the cookie dough balls for up to 3 months. Bake directly from frozen, adding 1–2 minutes to the baking time.
  • Customization: Add crushed cookies (like Oreos or chocolate chip cookies) to the dough for extra texture and fun!
