- 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup (200 g) brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 3/4 cups (345 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup white chocolate chips
- 1 cup mini candy-coated chocolates (like M&Ms)
- Blue food coloring gel (optional, for a Cookie Monster-themed look)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Dough
- In a large bowl, cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the flour, baking soda, and salt, mixing until just combined.
2. Add the Mix-Ins
- Stir in the chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, and candy-coated chocolates until evenly distributed.
- If making blue cookies, add a few drops of blue food coloring gel to the dough and mix until the color is uniform.
3. Chill the Dough
- Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 24 hours for more flavor).
4. Bake the Cookies
- Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Using a cookie scoop or your hands, roll the dough into large balls (about 2 tablespoons each) and place them on the baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches of space between each cookie.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden but the centers are still soft.
- Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
5. Decorate (Optional)
- For a true Cookie Monster vibe, press candy eyeballs onto the cookies while they’re still warm and slightly soft.
Notes
- Storage: Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
- Freezing: Freeze the cookie dough balls for up to 3 months. Bake directly from frozen, adding 1–2 minutes to the baking time.
- Customization: Add crushed cookies (like Oreos or chocolate chip cookies) to the dough for extra texture and fun!
