Ingredients

Units Scale
  • For the Cookie Dough:
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
    • 2 tablespoons milk
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (heat-treated, if desired)*
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • For the Coating:
    • 2 cups semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
    • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or shortening (optional, for a smoother coating)

Optional Garnishes:

  • Sprinkles
  • Drizzle of white chocolate

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cookie Dough:
    • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
    • Mix in the milk and vanilla extract.
    • Gradually add the flour and salt, stirring until well combined. Fold in the mini chocolate chips.
  2. Chill the Dough:
    • Scoop the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze for 20–30 minutes, or until firm.
  3. Melt the Chocolate:
    • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until smooth. Add the coconut oil or shortening if using for a glossy finish.
  4. Dip the Truffles:
    • Using a fork or dipping tool, dip each cookie dough ball into the melted chocolate, ensuring it’s fully coated. Tap off any excess chocolate and place the coated truffles back onto the parchment paper.
  5. Decorate (Optional):
    • While the chocolate is still wet, add sprinkles or drizzle with white chocolate for decoration.
  6. Set and Serve:
    • Allow the truffles to set at room temperature or in the refrigerator for 15–20 minutes. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

  • To heat-treat flour: Spread the flour on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 5 minutes, or microwave in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until it reaches 165°F (74°C).
  • Store truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 3 months.
