Scale
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (heat-treated)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
- 1 cup chocolate chips or candy melts (optional, for coating)
Instructions
- To heat-treat the flour, microwave it for 1 minute or bake at 350°F (175°C) for 5 minutes to kill any bacteria. Let cool.
- In a bowl, beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix in milk and vanilla until combined.
- Add heat-treated flour and salt, mixing until a dough forms.
- Stir in mini chocolate chips.
- Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on a parchment-lined tray. Chill for 15–30 minutes.
- If coating, melt chocolate chips or candy melts and dip each ball, letting excess drip off. Place back on tray and chill until set.
Notes
- Use dairy-free butter and milk for a vegan version.
- Store in the fridge for up to a week or freeze for longer storage.
- Try using white chocolate chips or mix-ins like sprinkles or peanut butter chips.
