Description
Comeback Sauce is a creamy, tangy, and slightly spicy Southern condiment that pairs perfectly with fries, burgers, chicken tenders, or as a salad dressing. Originating in Mississippi, it’s called “comeback” because once you try it, you’ll keep coming back for more!
Ingredients
-
1 cup mayonnaise
-
1/4 cup ketchup
-
1/4 cup chili sauce (like Heinz)
-
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
-
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
-
1 teaspoon hot sauce (like Tabasco, or to taste)
-
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
-
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
-
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
-
1 tablespoon lemon juice
-
Optional: pinch of cayenne pepper (for extra heat)
Instructions
-
In a medium bowl, whisk together all ingredients until smooth and well blended.
-
Taste and adjust seasoning—add more hot sauce or lemon juice if desired.
-
Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to let the flavors meld.
-
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.
Notes
-
This sauce thickens and improves in flavor as it sits.
-
Great as a dip for fries, onion rings, or chicken tenders, or spread on sandwiches and burgers.
-
For a smokier flavor, swap in smoked paprika or use chipotle chili sauce.
