Description

A rich and smooth coffee sauce with deep espresso flavor — perfect for drizzling over ice cream, cakes, pancakes, or any dessert that needs a coffee kick.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee or espresso
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp cold water
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine brewed coffee, granulated sugar, and brown sugar over medium heat. Stir until sugars are dissolved.
  2. Bring mixture to a gentle simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes to slightly reduce.
  3. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with cold water until smooth. Slowly whisk into the simmering coffee sauce.
  4. Continue cooking, stirring constantly, until sauce thickens to desired consistency, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in butter, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until smooth and glossy.
  6. Serve warm or let cool. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

Notes

  • Use strong brewed coffee or espresso for a bold flavor.
  • Reheat gently on the stove or microwave if sauce thickens too much when chilled.
  • Delicious over ice cream, waffles, pancakes, or as a cake drizzle.
