Description

A hearty and comforting classic meatloaf made with ground beef, breadcrumbs, and savory seasonings, topped with a tangy ketchup glaze.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 cup ketchup (for topping)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar (for topping)
  • 1 tbsp mustard (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, milk, eggs, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and thyme.
  3. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
  4. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place in a baking dish or on a lined baking sheet.
  5. In a small bowl, mix 1/2 cup ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard. Spread over the top of the meatloaf.
  6. Bake for 55–65 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  7. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure doneness.
  • Leftovers can be used for meatloaf sandwiches.
  • Substitute part of the beef with ground pork or turkey for variation.
