Description

Cinnamon Sugar French Toast is a sweet and cozy breakfast favorite made with thick slices of bread soaked in a cinnamon-spiced custard, pan-fried until golden, and coated in a crunchy cinnamon sugar topping.


Ingredients

  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp butter (for cooking)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon (for coating)
  • Maple syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh fruit for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, 1 tsp cinnamon, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, mix 1/4 cup sugar with 1 tsp cinnamon for coating. Set aside.
  3. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, soaking both sides well but not overly soggy.
  4. Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt a bit of butter.
  5. Cook bread slices for 2–3 minutes per side or until golden and firm.
  6. Immediately press or sprinkle both sides of the cooked French toast into the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  7. Serve warm with maple syrup, powdered sugar, or fruit if desired.
