Description

Cinnamon Rolls are soft, fluffy pastries swirled with a buttery cinnamon-sugar filling and topped with a rich cream cheese or vanilla glaze, perfect for breakfast or a sweet treat.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (for filling)
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon (for filling)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened (for glaze)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for glaze)
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)
  • 23 tbsp milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add sugar, melted butter, eggs, and salt. Mix well, then gradually add flour to form a soft dough.
  3. Knead dough for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon for the filling.
  5. Roll out dough into a 16×12-inch rectangle. Spread with softened butter, then sprinkle evenly with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  6. Roll up dough tightly from the long side and slice into 12 equal rolls.
  7. Place rolls in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for 30–45 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 20–25 minutes, until golden brown.
  9. While baking, prepare glaze: beat cream cheese and butter until smooth, add powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk to desired consistency.
  10. Spread glaze over warm rolls before serving.

Notes

  • You can prepare the rolls the night before and refrigerate before the second rise.
  • Use dental floss to cut clean cinnamon roll slices from the dough log.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat gently before serving.
