- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 3/4 cups milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- For the Cream Cheese Glaze:
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2–3 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Preheat waffle iron according to manufacturer’s instructions.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until combined. Pour into dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Pour waffle batter into the preheated waffle iron, then sprinkle cinnamon sugar mixture over the batter before closing the lid.
- Cook waffles until golden and crisp. Repeat with remaining batter.
- To make the glaze, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, and enough milk to reach drizzle consistency.
- Serve waffles warm, drizzled with cream cheese glaze.
Notes
- For extra cinnamon swirl effect, gently swirl the cinnamon sugar into the batter with a knife before closing the waffle iron.
- Top with chopped pecans for added crunch.
- Leftover waffles can be frozen and reheated in the toaster.
