Description

Easy Churro Bites are mini, cinnamon-sugar coated dough balls that are crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. These bite-sized treats are simple to make and perfect for dipping in chocolate sauce or enjoying on their own.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat.
  2. Stir in flour all at once until a dough forms and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
  3. Let the dough cool for 5 minutes. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each, then stir in vanilla. Dough will be sticky and thick.
  4. Heat 2–3 inches of oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a large round or star tip (or use a small scoop).
  6. Pipe or scoop small mounds of dough directly into hot oil, cutting with scissors or using a spoon. Fry in batches for 2–3 minutes, until golden brown.
  7. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  8. In a bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon. Toss warm churro bites in the mixture to coat.
  9. Serve immediately, optionally with chocolate or caramel dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Don’t overcrowd the fryer; cook in batches for even browning.
  • If dough is too runny, let it rest slightly or chill before piping.
  • These are best eaten warm right after frying.
  • Try flavoring the sugar coating with a pinch of nutmeg or cardamom for variation.
