Description

Churro Bites are golden, bite-sized treats that are crispy on the outside, soft and airy on the inside, and generously coated in cinnamon sugar. Paired with a luscious, rich chocolate dipping sauce, these churro bites are the ultimate dessert or snack for any occasion.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Churro Bites:

  • 1 cup (240ml) water
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

For the Cinnamon Sugar Coating:

  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

For the Chocolate Dipping Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup (120ml) heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup (90g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Churro Dough:
    • In a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar, butter, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
    • Reduce heat to low and add the flour all at once. Stir vigorously until the mixture forms a smooth ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
    • Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
  2. Add Eggs and Vanilla:
    • Transfer the dough to a mixing bowl. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. The dough will start out lumpy but will become smooth and sticky. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  3. Heat Oil for Frying:
    • Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep saucepan or skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Fry the Churro Bites:
    • Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe 1-inch pieces of dough into the hot oil, using scissors or a knife to cut them off. Fry in batches, turning occasionally, until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
    • Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  5. Coat in Cinnamon Sugar:
    • In a shallow bowl, mix granulated sugar and cinnamon. While the churro bites are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar until fully coated.
  6. Make the Chocolate Dipping Sauce:
    • Heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan over medium heat until it begins to simmer (do not boil).
    • Remove from heat and pour over the chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl. Let sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  7. Serve:
    • Serve the warm churro bites with the chocolate dipping sauce on the side.

Notes

  • For an extra twist, drizzle the churro bites with caramel sauce or serve with dulce de leche.
  • Leftover churro bites can be reheated in an oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes to regain crispiness.
