Scale
- 10 cups (80 g) popped popcorn (about 1/2 cup unpopped kernels)
- 4 tablespoons (60 g) unsalted butter
- 1 package (10 oz / 280 g) mini marshmallows
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Red and green sprinkles or mini candies (optional)
- Nonstick cooking spray or butter (for hands)
Instructions
- Prepare the popcorn:
- Place the popped popcorn in a large mixing bowl. Remove any unpopped kernels.
- Make the marshmallow mixture:
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the mini marshmallows and stir constantly until melted and smooth.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
- Combine with popcorn:
- Pour the marshmallow mixture over the popcorn. Use a spatula to gently fold the mixture until the popcorn is evenly coated. Add sprinkles or mini candies if desired and mix lightly.
- Shape the popcorn balls:
- Lightly grease your hands with nonstick spray or butter. Scoop about 1 cup of the coated popcorn and press it gently into a ball. Repeat with the remaining popcorn.
- Cool and serve:
- Place the popcorn balls on a sheet of wax paper or parchment paper to cool and set. Once firm, they’re ready to enjoy or package as gifts.
Notes
- Wrap individual popcorn balls in plastic wrap or store them in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- Add crushed candy canes, white chocolate drizzle, or festive M&Ms for extra holiday flair.
- Be careful when handling the warm marshmallow mixture to avoid burns.
