Description

These Christmas Chocolate Chip Sugar Cookies are soft, chewy, and full of holiday cheer! Featuring a sugar cookie base with festive red and green sprinkles and mini chocolate chips, they’re perfect for holiday parties, cookie exchanges, or just enjoying with a mug of hot cocoa.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups (345 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (180 g) mini chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup (80 g) red and green holiday sprinkles

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

2. Make the cookie dough

  1. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (2–3 minutes).
  2. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in the mini chocolate chips and holiday sprinkles.

3. Shape the cookies

  1. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls.
  2. Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

4. Bake

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers may look slightly underbaked but will set as they cool.

5. Cool and serve

  1. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  2. Serve and enjoy with your favorite holiday beverages!

Notes

  • Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
  • Freezing: Freeze unbaked cookie dough balls for up to 3 months. Bake from frozen, adding an extra minute to the baking time.
  • Variations: Add white chocolate chips or crushed candy canes for extra festive flair.
