Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Chocolate Cookie Dough:

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt

For the Peanut Butter Swirl:

  • 1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar

Instructions

1. Make the Peanut Butter Swirl:

  • In a small bowl, mix peanut butter and powdered sugar until smooth.
  • Set aside.

2. Prepare the Chocolate Cookie Dough:

  • In a large bowl, cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 2 minutes).
  • Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.

3. Swirl in the Peanut Butter:

  • Drop small dollops of the peanut butter mixture over the chocolate dough.
  • Use a spatula or knife to gently swirl the peanut butter into the dough (don’t overmix—leave visible swirls!).

4. Shape & Chill the Dough:

  • Scoop out 1.5 tbsp-sized dough balls and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Chill the dough for 30 minutes (this helps keep them thick and chewy).

5. Bake the Cookies:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Place the cookies 2 inches apart on a baking sheet.
  • Bake for 9-11 minutes or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.

6. Cool & Serve:

  • Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  • Enjoy warm or store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

Notes

  • Want extra texture? Add 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chopped peanuts to the dough.
  • Use crunchy peanut butter if you like a little crunch in every bite!
  • Make it extra gooey: Warm a cookie in the microwave for 10 seconds before eating.
