- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp orange zest
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips or finely chopped dark chocolate
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix in vanilla extract and orange zest.
- Add flour and salt, and mix until the dough begins to come together. Stir in chocolate chips.
- Form dough into a log, wrap in plastic, and chill for 30 minutes. Alternatively, roll out dough and use cookie cutters.
- Slice chilled dough into 1/4-inch rounds and place on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 12–14 minutes, or until the edges just begin to turn golden. Let cool on a wire rack.
Notes
- Dip cooled cookies in melted chocolate for an elegant finish.
- Cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
- Chilling the dough helps the cookies maintain their shape while baking.
