Description

This Chocolate-Hazelnut Panini is a decadent, dessert-style sandwich featuring gooey chocolate-hazelnut spread, crispy bread, and optional sweet toppings. Perfect as a quick treat or an indulgent snack, this panini is a surefire hit for all ages.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices of crusty bread (e.g., sourdough, ciabatta, or brioche)
  • 4 tbsp chocolate-hazelnut spread (e.g., Nutella)
  • 1 banana, thinly sliced (optional)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • Powdered sugar (optional, for garnish)
  • Fresh berries (optional, for serving)

Instructions

1. Assemble the Panini:

  1. Spread 2 tablespoons of chocolate-hazelnut spread onto one side of two bread slices.
  2. Top with thin slices of banana, if using, and cover with the remaining bread slices to form a sandwich.

2. Prepare the Bread:

  1. Lightly butter the outside of each sandwich to help create a golden, crispy exterior.

3. Cook the Panini:

  1. Heat a panini press or a nonstick skillet over medium heat.
  2. Place the sandwiches in the panini press and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the filling is melted.
    • Stovetop Method: If using a skillet, cook the sandwich for 2-3 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula.

4. Serve and Garnish:

  1. Slice the panini in half and dust with powdered sugar, if desired.
  2. Serve warm with fresh berries or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra special touch.

Notes

  • Variations: Add sliced strawberries, chopped hazelnuts, or a sprinkle of cinnamon for additional flavor.
  • Make Ahead: Assemble the sandwiches ahead of time and cook just before serving.
  • Serving Ideas: Pair with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a complete dessert.
