Ingredients
-
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
-
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
-
1/2 cup granulated sugar
-
2 large eggs
-
2 tsp vanilla extract
-
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
-
1 tsp baking soda
-
1/2 tsp salt
-
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
-
1 cup M&M’s (plus extra for topping)
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
-
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
-
Beat in eggs, one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
-
Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until combined.
-
Fold in chocolate chips and M&M’s.
-
Scoop dough (about 2 tablespoons per cookie) onto prepared baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart. Press a few extra M&M’s on top for a bakery-style look.
-
Bake for 9–11 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden and centers are still soft.
-
Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
-
Don’t overbake! Cookies will set as they cool.
-
Swap in seasonal M&M’s for a holiday version.
-
Dough can be chilled for thicker cookies or frozen for later.
