For the Chicken:
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (cut into 8 small pieces)
- 1 cup (120 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) buttermilk (or regular milk + 1 teaspoon vinegar)
- 1 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
For the Waffles:
- 16 mini waffles (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 tablespoons butter (for toasting)
Toppings:
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons hot honey (optional, for spice)
- 8 mini skewers or toothpicks
Instructions
1️⃣ Prepare the Chicken:
- In a bowl, mix flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and cayenne.
- In another bowl, whisk together egg and buttermilk.
- Dip each chicken piece into the buttermilk mixture, then coat in the flour mixture.
- Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat (350°F / 175°C).
- Fry chicken for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
- Drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
2️⃣ Prepare the Waffles:
- Toast mini waffles in a skillet with butter or in a toaster until golden and crisp.
3️⃣ Assemble the Sliders:
- Place a piece of fried chicken on one waffle.
- Drizzle with maple syrup or hot honey.
- Top with another waffle and secure with a toothpick or skewer.
4️⃣ Serve & Enjoy!
- Serve warm with extra syrup on the side.
