Description

Chicken Tenders are crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside strips of seasoned chicken breast that are breaded and fried to golden perfection — a favorite for kids and adults alike.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken tenders or chicken breasts cut into strips
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional for extra crunch)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Place chicken in a bowl with buttermilk. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (up to overnight).
  2. In a shallow dish, mix flour, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and cayenne.
  3. Heat about 2 inches of oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Remove chicken from buttermilk and dredge in the flour mixture, pressing to coat well.
  5. Fry chicken tenders in batches for 4-5 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  7. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

  • For a baked version, spray coated tenders with oil and bake at 425°F for 20 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Serve with honey mustard, ranch, or BBQ sauce for dipping.
  • Double dredging (dipping twice in buttermilk and flour) makes extra crispy tenders.
