Description

Chicken Street Tacos are a flavorful and easy-to-make Mexican-style dish featuring marinated grilled chicken, served on small corn tortillas with fresh toppings like onion, cilantro, and lime.


Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon oregano
  • 810 small corn tortillas
  • 1/2 cup white onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Lime wedges, for serving
  • Optional toppings: avocado slices, salsa, cotija cheese

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix olive oil, lime juice, orange juice, garlic, chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, pepper, and oregano.
  2. Add chicken thighs and toss to coat. Marinate for at least 30 minutes, up to 4 hours.
  3. Preheat grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Grill chicken for 5–7 minutes per side, until fully cooked.
  4. Let chicken rest for 5 minutes, then chop into small pieces.
  5. Warm tortillas in a dry skillet or on the grill until soft and slightly charred.
  6. Assemble tacos by placing chopped chicken on tortillas and topping with onion, cilantro, and a squeeze of lime.
  7. Add optional toppings as desired and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Chicken breasts can be used, but thighs provide more flavor and tenderness.
  • Double the marinade for extra juicy chicken or to reserve some as a drizzle.
  • Great for meal prep—store components separately and reheat as needed.
  • Use a grill pan indoors if outdoor grilling isn’t available.
