Description

Chicken Florentine is a classic Italian-American dish featuring tender pan-seared chicken breasts smothered in a creamy spinach sauce, perfect for a comforting yet elegant meal.


Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 4 cups fresh spinach
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook for 5-6 minutes per side or until golden and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and add butter and garlic. Sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  4. Add chicken broth and stir, scraping up any browned bits from the pan.
  5. Stir in heavy cream, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, and lemon juice. Simmer for 3-4 minutes until slightly thickened.
  6. Add spinach and cook until wilted, about 2 minutes.
  7. Return chicken to the pan, spoon sauce over the top, and cook for another 2-3 minutes until heated through.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with extra Parmesan if desired.

Notes

  • Use half-and-half instead of cream for a lighter version.
  • Pairs well with pasta, rice, or crusty bread.
  • Can be made with boneless thighs if preferred.
