Description

This Chicken Cordon Bleu Stromboli combines the classic flavors of chicken, ham, and Swiss cheese in a golden, flaky crust. It’s an easy and impressive dish perfect for weeknight dinners or entertaining guests.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the stromboli:

  • 1 sheet refrigerated pizza dough (13.8 oz / 390 g)
  • 1 cup (150 g) cooked chicken, shredded or diced
  • 6 slices deli ham
  • 6 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) Dijon mustard or honey mustard
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise (optional)

For the topping:

  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds or Italian seasoning (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Prepare the dough:
    • Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface into a rectangle (approximately 12×14 inches).
  3. Spread the filling:
    • Spread the mustard evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border on all sides.
    • Layer the ham slices across the dough. Add the chicken evenly on top of the ham. Layer the Swiss cheese slices over the chicken.
  4. Roll the stromboli:
    • Starting from one long side, tightly roll the dough into a log. Pinch the edges to seal and tuck the ends under the log. Transfer the roll to the prepared baking sheet, seam-side down.
  5. Brush and top:
    • Brush the stromboli with the beaten egg. Sprinkle with sesame seeds or Italian seasoning if desired.
  6. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
  7. Slice and serve:
    • Let the stromboli cool for 5 minutes before slicing into thick pieces. Serve warm with a side of honey mustard or marinara sauce.

Notes

  • Substitute Swiss cheese with provolone or mozzarella if desired.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheated in the oven.
  • Add cooked bacon or sautéed spinach for extra flavor.
