Scale
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 4–6 hamburger buns, toasted
- Optional garnish: chopped parsley
Instructions
1. Cook the Chicken:
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground chicken and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until no longer pink (about 5-7 minutes).
- Add the chopped onion and garlic to the skillet. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until the onion is softened.
- Stir in the Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
2. Make the Alfredo Sauce:
- Reduce the heat to medium-low. Add the heavy cream and chicken broth to the skillet, stirring well to combine.
- Stir in the Parmesan cheese and let the sauce simmer for 3-4 minutes, or until slightly thickened.
3. Add the Cheese:
- Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese into the skillet. Stir until melted and combined with the sauce.
- Remove the skillet from heat.
4. Assemble the Sloppy Joes:
- Spoon the creamy chicken mixture onto the bottom halves of the toasted hamburger buns.
- Top each sandwich with the remaining shredded mozzarella cheese. If desired, place the assembled sandwiches under the broiler for 1-2 minutes to melt the cheese.
- Garnish with chopped parsley and place the top halves of the buns on the sandwiches.
Notes
- Bread Options: Try these with brioche buns, hoagie rolls, or ciabatta for a gourmet touch.
- Vegetable Add-ins: Sautéed mushrooms or spinach can be added to the chicken mixture for extra flavor.
- Make Ahead: Prepare the chicken mixture ahead of time and reheat before serving for a quick meal.
