Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 46 hamburger buns, toasted
  • Optional garnish: chopped parsley

Instructions

1. Cook the Chicken:

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground chicken and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until no longer pink (about 5-7 minutes).
  2. Add the chopped onion and garlic to the skillet. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until the onion is softened.
  3. Stir in the Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper.

2. Make the Alfredo Sauce:

  1. Reduce the heat to medium-low. Add the heavy cream and chicken broth to the skillet, stirring well to combine.
  2. Stir in the Parmesan cheese and let the sauce simmer for 3-4 minutes, or until slightly thickened.

3. Add the Cheese:

  1. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese into the skillet. Stir until melted and combined with the sauce.
  2. Remove the skillet from heat.

4. Assemble the Sloppy Joes:

  1. Spoon the creamy chicken mixture onto the bottom halves of the toasted hamburger buns.
  2. Top each sandwich with the remaining shredded mozzarella cheese. If desired, place the assembled sandwiches under the broiler for 1-2 minutes to melt the cheese.
  3. Garnish with chopped parsley and place the top halves of the buns on the sandwiches.
