Description

Soft and chewy sugar cookies bursting with colorful sprinkles — a fun, festive treat that’s perfect for parties, holidays, or anytime you need a sweet pop of color.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup rainbow sprinkles (plus extra for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Beat in the egg, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the sprinkles.
  6. Roll dough into 1 1/2-inch balls and place on prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart. Press a few extra sprinkles on top if desired.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are set but centers are still soft.
  8. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Use jimmies-style sprinkles for best results; nonpareils may bleed color.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
  • For extra chewiness, slightly underbake the cookies.
