Description

These Chewy Chocolate Crinkle Cookies are rich, fudgy, and coated in powdered sugar for a beautiful crinkle effect. Perfectly soft in the center with slightly crisp edges, they’re a holiday classic and a chocolate lover’s dream!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup (80 ml) vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (40 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (60 g) powdered sugar (for coating)

Instructions

1. Prepare the dough

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and vegetable oil until well combined.
  2. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a sticky dough forms.

2. Chill the dough

  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the dough for at least 2 hours, or until firm enough to handle.

3. Preheat the oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

4. Shape and coat the cookies

  1. Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls.
  2. Roll each ball generously in powdered sugar, ensuring they’re fully coated.
  3. Place the coated dough balls on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

5. Bake

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes, or until the cookies are puffed and the powdered sugar coating has formed cracks. Avoid overbaking to keep the centers chewy.

6. Cool and serve

  1. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  2. Serve and enjoy with a glass of milk or a cup of coffee!

Notes

  • Storage: Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
  • Freezing: Freeze unbaked dough balls for up to 3 months. Roll in powdered sugar just before baking.
  • Add-ins: Stir in chocolate chips, peppermint chunks, or nuts for extra flavor and texture.
