Ingredients

Scale

(Makes 8 taco sticks)

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 packet (1 oz) taco seasoning mix (or homemade)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tube (13.8 oz) refrigerated pizza dough
  • 8 mozzarella string cheese sticks
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried parsley (optional)

For Dipping:

  • Salsa
  • Guacamole
  • Sour cream

Instructions

1. Preheat the Oven:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

2. Cook the Taco Meat:

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease.
  2. Stir in the taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

3. Prepare the Dough:

  1. Roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle (about 12×8 inches).
  2. Cut the dough into 8 equal strips.

4. Assemble the Taco Sticks:

  1. Place a mozzarella stick on each strip of dough.
  2. Add 1-2 tablespoons of the taco meat on top of the cheese. Sprinkle with shredded cheddar, if desired.
  3. Fold the dough around the filling, pinching the edges to seal tightly.

5. Bake:

  1. Arrange the taco sticks seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  2. Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder and parsley.
  3. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.

6. Serve:

  1. Let the taco sticks cool for a few minutes before serving.
  2. Serve warm with salsa, guacamole, or sour cream for dipping.

Notes

  • Make Ahead: Prepare the taco sticks and freeze before baking. Bake directly from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to the cooking time.
  • Add Veggies: Include chopped jalapeños, onions, or bell peppers in the taco meat for extra flavor.
  • Cheese Swap: Use shredded pepper jack or cheddar inside for a spicier kick.
