Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Sliders:

  • 12 Hawaiian rolls (or slider buns)
  • 8 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 lb breakfast sausage (pork, turkey, or chicken)
  • 8 slices cheddar cheese (or any melty cheese)
  • 1 tbsp butter (for eggs)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

For the Butter Topping:

  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup (optional)
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried parsley (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

2. Cook the Sausage:

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it into crumbles.
  • Drain excess grease and set aside.

3. Make the Scrambled Eggs:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  2. In a non-stick skillet, melt 1 tbsp butter over medium heat.
  3. Pour in the egg mixture and cook gently, stirring occasionally until the eggs are just set but still soft.
  4. Remove from heat.

4. Assemble the Sliders:

  1. Cut the Rolls:

    • Without separating the rolls, slice them in half horizontally.
    • Place the bottom half in the prepared baking dish.
  2. Layer the Ingredients:

    • Spread the cooked sausage evenly over the bottom layer of rolls.
    • Add the scrambled eggs on top of the sausage.
    • Layer cheese slices evenly over the eggs.
    • Place the top half of the rolls over the cheese.

5. Make the Butter Topping:

  • In a small bowl, mix together melted butter, maple syrup, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried parsley.

6. Bake the Sliders:

  1. Brush and Bake:

    • Generously brush the butter topping over the rolls.
    • Cover with foil and bake for 15 minutes.
  2. Brown the Tops:

    • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, until the tops are golden brown.
  3. Serve:

    • Let the sliders cool slightly, then cut and serve warm.

Notes

  • Make Ahead: Assemble the sliders the night before, cover, and refrigerate. In the morning, add the butter topping and bake.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven for best results.

  • Variations: Swap sausage for bacon or ham, and try different cheeses like Swiss, pepper jack, or mozzarella.
