- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions
- Steam or microwave broccoli until just tender, about 4–5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute, whisking constantly.
- Slowly whisk in milk and cook, stirring, until the mixture thickens, about 2–3 minutes.
- Reduce heat to low and stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
- Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper to taste.
- Pour the cheese sauce over the cooked broccoli and toss to coat evenly. Serve warm.
