- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp instant yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp plain yogurt
- 2 tbsp milk
- 2 tbsp melted butter or ghee
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella (or a mix with cheddar)
- Water, as needed
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- Add yogurt, milk, melted butter, and enough water to form a soft dough.
- Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Cover and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-1.5 hours until doubled.
- Punch down the dough and divide into 6 equal pieces; rest for 10 minutes.
- Roll each ball into a small circle, add cheese to the center, fold and seal, then gently roll again into a 6-7 inch circle.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook naan until bubbles form and golden spots appear, about 1-2 minutes per side.
- Brush with melted butter or ghee and serve hot.
Notes
- Mix mozzarella with cheddar for more flavor.
- Add garlic or herbs for a variation.
- Cook on a hot skillet or bake on a pizza stone for best results.
- Cover dough while resting to prevent drying.
- Reheat leftovers in a skillet or oven.
