Description

This quick and budget-friendly pasta is packed with flavor and requires only a few basic ingredients. Perfect for a fast meal or a satisfying snack, it’s simple, comforting, and oh-so-delicious.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 250 g (1/2 lb) spaghetti or any pasta
  • 4 tablespoons butter (or margarine for an even cheaper option)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta:
    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Reserve ½ cup of the pasta water, then drain the pasta.
  2. Prepare the garlic butter sauce:
    • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant (but not browned).
  3. Combine the pasta and sauce:
    • Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat in the garlic butter. If the pasta seems dry, add a splash of the reserved pasta water.
    • Season with salt, pepper, and red chili flakes (if using).
  4. Serve:
    • Divide the pasta into bowls. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and parsley for extra flavor. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Add vegetables like spinach, peas, or cherry tomatoes for more nutrients without adding much cost.
  • You can substitute butter with olive oil if desired.
