Scale
- 250 g (1/2 lb) spaghetti or any pasta
- 4 tablespoons butter (or margarine for an even cheaper option)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook the pasta:
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Reserve ½ cup of the pasta water, then drain the pasta.
- Prepare the garlic butter sauce:
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant (but not browned).
- Combine the pasta and sauce:
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat in the garlic butter. If the pasta seems dry, add a splash of the reserved pasta water.
- Season with salt, pepper, and red chili flakes (if using).
- Serve:
- Divide the pasta into bowls. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and parsley for extra flavor. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Add vegetables like spinach, peas, or cherry tomatoes for more nutrients without adding much cost.
- You can substitute butter with olive oil if desired.
