Description

Caramelized Pulled Beef Brisket is a tender, slow-cooked dish made with a flavorful spice rub and rich sauce, perfect for sandwiches, tacos, or hearty mains.

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C).
  2. Mix salt, pepper, paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, and cayenne. Rub mixture all over the brisket.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Sear brisket on both sides until browned, about 4–5 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same pot, sauté onions for 3–4 minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook another minute.
  5. Stir in beef broth, barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer.
  6. Return brisket to the pot, fat side up. Cover and transfer to oven.
  7. Bake for 3.5 to 4 hours or until the brisket is fork-tender.
  8. Remove brisket and shred using two forks. Return shredded meat to the sauce and stir to coat.
  9. Optional: Broil shredded brisket on a sheet pan for 5–7 minutes for caramelized edges.

  • Let brisket rest for 15 minutes before shredding for best texture.
  • Can be made ahead and reheated—flavors deepen over time.
