- 3–4 lbs beef brisket
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C).
- Mix salt, pepper, paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, and cayenne. Rub mixture all over the brisket.
- Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Sear brisket on both sides until browned, about 4–5 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pot, sauté onions for 3–4 minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook another minute.
- Stir in beef broth, barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer.
- Return brisket to the pot, fat side up. Cover and transfer to oven.
- Bake for 3.5 to 4 hours or until the brisket is fork-tender.
- Remove brisket and shred using two forks. Return shredded meat to the sauce and stir to coat.
- Optional: Broil shredded brisket on a sheet pan for 5–7 minutes for caramelized edges.

- Let brisket rest for 15 minutes before shredding for best texture.
- Can be made ahead and reheated—flavors deepen over time.
